Lee will also bowl into the breeze against Proteas: Ponting

Lee will also bowl into the breeze against Proteas: PontingPerth, Dec. 16 : Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said that even Brett Lee will be expected to take his turn pushing into Perth''s famous sea breeze.

Ponting also confirmed that Peter Siddle will play the first Test against South Africa, beginning on Thursday, replacing Stuart Clark, who is out with tennis elbow.

Clark had surgery in Sydney on Monday afternoon to remove bone spurs on his right elbow and will miss the remainder of the international summer.

"It''s a big blow for Stuart and the team," Ponting said.

According to Fox, Australia now have three with-the-wind bowlers who all generate good pace.

"One or two of the guys are going to have to bowl into the breeze at different times and curtail their natural instincts as bowlers. But you don''t play for Australia without being able to adapt and adjust. At different times it might be Brett, it might be Mitchell who is going to have to do that job for us," Ponting said.

Ponting will also consider using the medium pace of Andrew Symonds as another holding option.

He dismissed concerns about playing Siddle and off-spinner Jason Krejza in the same side, even though they have played just one Test each.

"You''ve got to pick your best four bowlers for the conditions almost regardless of their experience," Ponting said.

Although Siddle has played just one Test, the South Africans are well briefed on him, according to coach Micky Arthur.

"We have got a pretty good dossier on Peter Siddle from people we know in and around the Melbourne area," Arthur said.

"The only footage we have got is from the Indian Test he played and obviously the conditions will be a bit different. He looks a bit skiddy, gets a bit of bounce and it looks as though he hits the bat quite hard," he said. (ANI)
