Dortmund, Germany  - Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of South Korean left-back Lee Young-Pyo for another season with an option to keep him for a further year, the German Bundesliga club said Wednesday.

"It's no secret that we are very satisfied with his performance," Borussia sporting director Michael Zorc said.

Lee played four seasons for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and three for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur before joining Dortmund in August for an undisclosed fee.

Dortmund turned to the 31-year-old international when it became clear that they needed a replacement for the injured Brazilian Dede who tore a cruciate ligament in the first game of the season. (dpa)
