Rebels coach receives contract extension
OXFORD, Miss., Dec. 5 -- Officials at the University of Mississippi announced Friday Coach Houston Nutt has agreed to a contract extension through the 2012 season.
Terms were not released.
"I'm very excited about the terms we discussed," Nutt said. "This helps our recruiting and shows the direction our program is headed. We are very excited about going to our bowl game."
Nutt resigned as coach at Arkansas after the 2007 season, having put together a 75-48 record in 10 years. He then quickly turned around a Mississippi program that had gone through four straight losing seasons.
The Rebels went 8-4 this year with a 5-3 mark in the difficult Southeastern Conference. Mississippi handed second-ranked Florida its lone loss of the regular season.
Ole Miss is bowl bound, but it isn't clear yet which bowl. The school is currently offering fans opportunities to buy tickets either to the Cotton Bowl or the Capital One Bowl. (UPI)
