Iran executes 10 convicts by hanging
Tehran - A mass execution of 10 convicted murderers, including one woman, was carried out Wednesday at Evin prison in the Iranian capital Tehran.
Fars news agency reported that all 10 were hanged.
The woman, Fatemeh Haqiqat-Pajuh, killed her husband in 2001 and cut him into pieces. She said during interrogations that the murder was revenge after her husband raped her daughter from a first marriage.
Her execution was postponed several times due to international protests.
All 10 convicts were executed after their initial death sentences were approved by the Supreme Court.
Murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking of quantities in excess of 5 kilos are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran. (dpa)
