Frankfurt - The excitement surrounding the election of Barack Obama spread to Germany's Frankfurt Zoo where keepers named a newly born Alpaca calf after the president-elect.

The male calf Obama was born on November 4, US election day, zoo officials said Friday.

Then Alpaca calf is still a bit wobbly on his legs but is slowly beginning to venture around his enclosure, the zoo said.

Alpacas come from South America and are a smaller version of the llama. (dpa)
