Daniel Craig’s mum almost never let him become Bond
London, November 3: Bond star Daniel Craig might have ended up going to a university fulfilling his mum’s dreams had he not decided to pursue theatre.
The 40-year-old, who quit his A-levels aged 16 to attend a drama school, had been discouraged by his mum, Carol, who told the Brit that ‘qualifications on bits of paper’ would not make him an actor.
The 61-year-old Carol revealed that she respected and believed in her son’s capabilities, yet she couldn’t stop herself from worrying when he announced his acceptance into the National Youth Theatre .
“It must have been hard for him. He knew I had my heart set on university for him. I knew he was clever enough to go, so giving up his A-levels wasn’t an easy decision,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.
“I didn’t want this to be a kind of whim. I knew he had potential. I didn’t want to see it wasted. I knew in my heart he would make it, but you worry as a mother,” she added.
Craig’s recent Bond flick ‘Quantum Of Solace’ has recently rocked the box office collecting a staggering 4.9 million pounds on its opening day, displacing former record-holder ‘Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire’s collection of 4.25 million pounds. (ANI)
