SSP Son Held For Robbing Diamonds Worth 1.5 CroreIn a shocking revelation the Police have arrested Mohit Kumar Sharma, son of Senior Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), Patiala, Shiv Kumar for having masterminded the theft of diamonds from a Mumbai merchant.Mohit Kumar who runs a shop is an Ex-Bishop cotton pass-out. 

The Merchant Mr. Bhupesh Shah had visited M Jewelers in Ludhiana on the pretext of showing Mohit the jewels. After the meeting Shah asked Mohit to arrange for a taxi for him. This is where the plan began where Mohit along with gunman Harbans Lal and a few other accomplices who are still at large fixed a taxi for Shah. On his way from Ludhiana to Amritsar the taxi driver purposely stopped the vehicle near Phillaur even after Shah asked him not to. Soon some three to four armed men attacked Shah, robbed the jewels and fled with the driver and the taxi. The Police have identified Six accomplices including a security guard Amandeep Bittu who are still at large.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) R S Sohal the case was crystal clear as Mohit knew that the merchant was carrying diamonds and had also arranged for the taxi. Meanwhile Mohit confessed and also told the Police that the Diamonds were hidden in his room .The police have found the loot and have sent the duo to Police Custody till 15 October. However, there may be more than what meets the eye because SSP Shiv Kumar had investigated the infamous Disproportionate assets case against former Punjab DGP S S Virk and is believed to have had a row with former CM Amarinder Singh during investigations.
