Bharti Airtel launches virtual calling card service in Canada

Bharti Airtel, India’s leading integrated telecom company, after successful foray into other international markets, has announced the launch of its virtual calling card services in Canada offering a tariff of Rs 2.80 for one minute call to India.

Under the latest service, the Canadian subscribers will now be able to call India at 5.9 cents (or about Rs 2.80) per minute on a toll-free access telephone number. Besides using the service, the subscribers have also option to call other countries, as per the list available on Airtel CallHome website.

According to industry estimates, the total outgoing traffic to India from Canada is around 18 crore minutes per month, of which 6 crore minutes are utilized through calling cards.

The company plans to enhance its share in virtual calling cards in Canadian market and make Airtel the preferred choice for the Indian community. The company is aiming at NRI and students population of 1.5 million.

With the latest launch, Canada has become the fourth country in the world, where the Airtel CallHome service has been introduced. The company has earlier launched its service in the US, UK and Singapore.
