University Of Pune Join Forces With Intel India

With the aim to create a specialized work force for the semiconductor industry, the University Of Pune Join Forces With Intel India University of Pune (UoP), joined forces with Intel India on Monday to achieve the goal.

This joint initiative will see introduction of a unique course called the UoP-Intel Higher Education Program, which will be aimed at M.Sc students. The program has been designed with the idea to bring knowledge, related to industry, to the classrooms, so that the new generation of students could understand and get exposure to the developing newer technologies in semiconductor development and design.

“The course will lay the foundation for other such interactive programs and will also enable the students to pursue career in science,” specified Dr P.Vidyasagar, professor, UoP at a press conference.

He further added, “The main aim of our program is to train post graduate students and enable them to be on par with the engineering students. In the last few years the need for interactive electronic designing has gone up and it has a huge demand now. We are hopeful that this course will provide the same.”

The students would greatly benefit from this program as it will offer complete course work on the VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Layout Technology and develop training facilities. Prior to introducing this program, a pilot program related to the same was introduced last year and it received a very positive response with students getting placed all over.

“The main aim of our collaboration with the University of Pune is to bridge the gap between demand and supply. This, first of its kind innovation, is only a step forward and we hope to have many more such ventures with other colleges in the city,” reported Biswajeeth Chaterjee, of Intel India.
