Zardari’s strategy lauded for winning over Opposition members in Sindh Assembly
Islamabad, Aug 14 : PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has been credited for winning over the Opposition members and mustering enough support for unanimously passing a resolution in the Sindh Assembly last evening asking President Pervez Musharraf to either take vote of confidence or resign.
The resolution was adopted unanimously by the provincial assembly.
Political analysts attributed the success to the strategy of Asif Ali Zardari, particularly in a province where there were many sympathisers of the President and it was never predicted that a unanimous no-trust would come against him, reported the Daily Times.
The strategy worked out by the PPP particularly its co-chairman was so successful that not only the MQM, which has been a diehard supporter of the president, but also the annoyed son of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, four other PPP MPAs and also 15 members of various splinter groups voted in favour of the resolution, added the paper.
According to it, this was the third anti-Musharraf resolution in a row by a provincial assembly and its unanimous adoption has brought the President under tremendous pressure giving him a clear message to call it a day immediately.
Analysts believe that the impeachment drive against the President would enter a decisive phase with the passage of a no-trust resolution against the president by Balochistan on Friday and the introduction of an impeachment resolution in the National Assembly. (ANI)
