California-headquartered EV manufacturer Fisker Incorporated has officially announced that it is going to enter the promising electric car market of India before the end of 2023. Fisker Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker revealed that the EV startup has plans to produce 100 units of the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition electric SUV for the Indian market. The homologation process for the Indian automotive market is expected to be completed by September, while deliveries of the vehicle to pre-order holders should commence sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition has been named after the EV startup’s India subsidiary – Fisker Vigyan India Private Limited. The American manufacturer established its Indian office in Hyderabad in 2022.

The exact pricing for the upcoming all-electric Fisker EV has not been revealed yet, but the limited-edition model’s pricing in India will reportedly align with pricing in the European market. In Germany, the Fisker Ocean Extreme is available with a starting price tag of 69,950 euros (roughly US$78,500), but one shouldn’t forget the fact the India-bound Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition will have a heftier price due to addition of import taxes and cost of logistics.

CEO Fisker described the India EV maker as an exciting opportunity for the company to grow. He also stressed that the EV will bring class-leading range and unique features to the new market.

Speaking on the topic, the top executive said, “India offers exciting opportunities for us. Following the successful start of deliveries in Europe and the US, we're thrilled that we can bring the Fisker Ocean Extreme, with its class-leading range and unique features, to a new market where we plan to grow our brand rapidly over the coming years.”

According to Fisker’s claims, the Ocean Extreme is the longest-range trim level model with an EPA-estimated rating of 360 miles (roughly 579 km) on a single charge. It runs on standard 20-inch wheels. In its class (mid-size SUVs with an MSRP under $200,000), the Ocean Extreme also claims to have the longest range of any new electric SUV.

However, nothing was revealed about possibility of launch of other Ocean trim levels in India. The company also remained tight-lipped on how the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition will be different from the standard Ocean Extreme on which it will be based.
