Hero MotoCorp Limited has finally announced the launch of the Vida V1—the brand’s much-awaited first electric scooter (e-scooter). New-Delhi-based Hero has strong presence in the Indian two-wheeler market.

The Vida V1 e-scooter is available in two versions: the V1 Plus and V1 Pro. The V1 Plus version comes with a price tag of Rs 145,000, while the V1 Pro costs Rs 159,000. In a few cities, including New Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur, the company has already started accepting reservation orders for the e-scooter for a price of Rs 2,499. Reservation holders will start getting their e-scooters from the second week of December this year.

The Vida V1 is a meticulously developed modern e-scooter. The V1 Plus has a 3.44-kWh batter, while the Vida V1 Pro has a slightly bigger battery rated at 3.94-kWh. The battery pack is removable, which makes it easy for the owner to take the battery out of the vehicle and charge it anywhere in a home or office. The company promises a quick charging time (0-80 per cent) of a little more than an hour.

An IP68-rated motor with a top speed of 50 miles per hour (mph) come as standard on both versions. However, the V1 Pro boasts faster acceleration as it is capable of going from 0 to 25 mph in 3.2 seconds. With an acceleration time of 3.4 seconds from 0 to 25 mph sprint, the V1 Plus is obviously not far behind. Both versions come covered by a standard 5-year/50,000 km (31,250 miles) warranty, while their battery come with warranty of 3 years/30000 km.

Ride modes include: Sport, Ride, Eco and Custom. When it comes to range, the Vida V1 can cover a distance of up to 143 km (approximately 103 miles) on a single charge, while the V1 Pro is capable of running up to 165 km (approximately 89 miles).

Other notable tech specs of the new e-scooter include LED lighting, a geo-fencing function, follow-me lights, and an anti-theft alert, SOS button on the handlebar, and remote immobilization.

Launching the Vida V1, Hero MotoCorp Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pawan Munjal said that the brand’s first e-scooter is just not another model but an ecosystem that is going to boost change in the two-wheeler market.

All set to hit public roads in December, the VIDA V1 will help Hero MotoCorp compete with the likes of Ather Energy, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Electric, Ola Eelctric, and TVS iQube.
