2017 Oscars: Jimmy Kimmel to host '89th Academy Awards'
Washington D.C. [USA], Dec. 6 : Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will emcee the 2017 Oscars.
The 49-year-old comedian has been tapped to host the ' 2017 Academy Awards', which will be produced by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd, Variety reports.
This will be his first time Kimmel is hosting the Oscars even though he has previously hosted other big events like the '2016 Emmy Awards', the 'ESPY Awards' in 2007, plus the 'American Music Awards' in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
"Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank," the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host tweeted an hour after the news broke.
"And if it is, my revenge on @TheAcademy will be terrible & sweet. Thx to @alsformalwear," he added.
In a later tweet, the television personality informed about his new show with 'Collateral Beauty' star Will Smith, celebrated chef Adam Perry Lang and Snoop Dogg. And "apparently" about the Oscars.
The tweet read, "NEW show tonight with Will Smith #CollateralBeauty, Chef @AdamPerryLang, #HowzItMizzade with @SnoopDogg & apparently I'm hosting the #Oscars."
In a statement released later in the day, Kimmel further shared his excitement for the big hosting gig, joking, "Mike and Jennifer have an excellent plan and their enthusiasm is infectious. I am honored to have been chosen to host the 89th and final Oscars."
