With rise in level of climate change, chance of strong storm surges called 'Grey Swans' will increase. Researchers from Princeton and MIT are quite concerned to know the findings made using computer simulations.

The researchers have looked at the possibility of gray swan storms in three cities known as Tampa, Cairns, Australia, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The researchers have warned such extreme storm conditions can take place in the areas, where they have never occurred before, like Dubai.

The chances of such weather events known as gray swans are low, but there is a possibility. As stated above, the probability will increase with rise in the severity level of climate change. Cairns, Australia, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Tampa, Florida are the three cities that are particularly at risk.

The researchers said that Tampa can witness up to 37-foot storm surge. Ning Lin from Princeton, and Kerry Emanuel of MIT were able to know the possibilities of these event through computer-generted models that are able to simulate thousands of storm scenarios.

It has been found that some gray swans are 1-in-10,000-year events and has increased chance of developing as the level of climate change will increase. Study researchers have run more than 3,000 computer generation simulations.

After going through simulations, they have found that a storm with a wind at 250 miles per hour could strike Dubai. The researchers want that the research findings should be considered properly and things should be planned accordingly.
