According to data, Montgomery is having 1,899.20 STDs per 100,000 people. After that comes St. Louis, MO with 1,867.54 STDs per 100,000 people; West Memphis, AR; 1,717.29 per 100,000; and Philadelphia, PA with 1,689.77 STDs per 100,000 people.

According to the 2013 numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Alabama is having third rank in chlamydia cases and second in gonorrhea cases. The state ranked 23rd for primary and secondary syphilis.

The health department is looking forward to a new law and more awareness regarding the problem. It will help cut the numbers further, both in Montgomery and throughout the state.

According to Dr. Mary McIntyre, Assistant State Health Officer for Disease Control & Prevention, work has been carried out by the Alabama Department of Public Health in order to tackle Montgomery's STD problems since long and the number of STD cases has gradually declined as a result of educational programs.
