A new video shows astronaut Terry Virts dissolving an antacid tablet in a blob of water floating in the microgravity of the space station. The view is mesmerizing. The video was made using a 4K RED Epic Dragon camera and posted by NASA.

Fizzy appearance of the ball of water on the inside looks amazing. Tiny bits of water can be seen shooting out as the tablet dissolves.

Surface tension in microgravity is the reason behind such a behavior of water in space. It allows the ball of liquid to not lose its shape despite the low gravity environment.

Space Station received the Epic Dragon camera during its fifth official uncrewed resupply mission in January.

The camera is well capable of recording videos in slow motion (up to 300 frames per second). This allows the camera to record fast-moving events like docking procedures. Moreover, its super-sharp imagery is a great means of allowing scientists know more about the outcome of science experiments.

“This is a huge leap in camera technology for spaceflight. These cameras have large sensors capable of very high resolution imaging at high frame rates”, Rodney Grubbs, program manager for NASA's imagery experts program at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama said in a statement.

NASA is looking forward to post more 4K videos from space on YouTube in near future.
