To determine the approximate number of physically-challenged people in the city, BBMP will consider the census report of 2011 as a base.  The census report of 2013 will later be used to update the numbers.

BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah said announced that physically-challenged people would be provided with two-wheelers, the deaf would be given hearing aids under the various welfare schemes.

Announcing the welfare plans, Siddaiah said, "Keeping this number as a criteria, we will provide two-wheelers designed for the physically-challenged, hearing aids for the deaf, and other facilities covered under the BBMP welfare schemes."

The announcement was made following Wednesday's review meeting that was conducted jointly by the members of the BBMP and the State Physically Challenged Directorate.

The Palike also moved to rid the city of illegal banners, posters and hoardings.  In the wake of a High Court direction, the commissioner directed all the zonal commissioners to conduct an all-embracing clearance drive across the city and remove all the illegal display materials.

The commissioner instructed the engineering division to work in tandem with the advertisement division to remove all the illegal advertisements from public places across the city.
