Ford India expects to see turnaround with festive season
Like all car manufacturers, the Indian division of US auto giant Ford expects demand for cars to boost during the imminent festive season.
Ford India, which recently launched a facelift version of version of the popular Figo, said that consumer sentiment is currently low due to high rate of inflation, but added that the company's order book was looking quite encouraging.
Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India, "Due to high inflation consumer sentiment is down. We will start to see a turnaround hopefully with the festive season. We will be seeing a lot of sales, I hope. The order book is looking quite encouraging."
To attract more customers, the company has priced the new Figo attractively at Rs 3,84,999 and Rs 4,81,999 for petrol and diesel (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.
Boneham expressed hope that sales of the Figo would likely improve with better macroeconomic environment. He claimed that the Figo had been enjoying year after year sales growth of 10 per cent.
In the month of September, Ford India's car sales slipped 8.29 per cent to settle at 9,418 units. The company admitted that it could not expect sales growth of 30 per cent, but added that the company could achieve a growth of 10 per cent to 15 per cent in sales for the whole year.
