Mini Australia: JCW GP to cost $56,900

Mini Australia: JCW GP to cost $56,900According to a recent revelation by Mini Australia about the official price-tag of the limited-edition Mini John Cooper Works GP (JCW GP), the fastest- and most extreme-ever production car from Mini will be available for $56,900, when it hits the Australian markets early next year.

The Mini JCW GP was first displayed in concept form at the Mini United festival which was held this May in France, but the full production model is now ready; equipped with an upgraded version of the 1.6-litre turbo, with 215bhp.

Featuring two seats and individually adjustable threaded suspension, the JCW GP will be 55 kg lighter than the standard JCW hatch; and will achieve 0-62 speed in 6.3 seconds, with a top speed of 150 miles per hour.

Lower by up to 20mm in height, the JCW GP will have the front shock absorbers mounted upside down in their tubes for increasing overall stiffness; and will also boast a notably increased front camber and Pirelli sports tyres.

Disclosing that there is ‘huge’ demand for the instant collector’s item, Kai Bruesewitz – general manager of Mini Australia – said that the JCW GP will be limited only to 2000 units worldwide; and that most of these vehicles have already been earmarked for prospective buyers.

Noting that the JCW GP has been “designed and built with performance and race track suitability in mind,” Bruesewitz said that the vehicle “has been reworked from the ground up with years of racing heritage know-how from the John Cooper Works engineers.”
