Gearbox reveals release date of Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC
In an announcement made during PAX Prime, Gearbox Software disclosed the release date of the Borderlands 2 Mechromancer downloadable content (DLC) saying that the unlockable class DLC will hit the markets "by October 16."
The actual release date of the Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC was revealed by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford at PAX Prime this weekend. The DLC will add a new robot-commanding class - the Mechromancer - to the greatly-anticipated Borderlands 2 title, which is scheduled for release on September 18.
According to the Mechromancer DLC-related information shared by Gearbox, interested gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 will receive the DLC for free; while the others will be able to purchase it for $10.
With Gearbox announcing October 16 as the release date for the Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC, it is evident that the forthcoming game will get its first DLC within a month of its launch. The announced release date for the Mechromancer DLC is sooner than what Gearbox had initially projected, when it announced the DLC and said that it would be available "60 to 90 days" after the launch of Borderlands 2.
Meanwhile, disclosing that, in addition to Mechromancer DLC, Gearbox is also planning to release four more Borderlands 2 DLC packs - similar to its offering for the original Borderlands title -, Pitchford said that Gearbox stands committed to, and is already in pre-production of, four campaign DLCs which will all be "big original, themed, fully built out campaign DLCs."
