Maruti Suzuki Sales Decline 5% In May 2012
Maruti Suzuki has registered a decline of 4.99% in its overall sales, which remained at 98,884 units during the month of May.
Country's biggest car manufacturer had sold 1,04,073 units during the corresponding month of 2011.
During May 2012, MSI posted a drop of 4.32 % in its domestic sales at 89,478 units from 93,519 units in the year-ago period.
In the same way, Maruti Suzuki's exports declined 10.88% to 9,406 units in May 2012 as compared to 10,554 units in May 2011.
Total passenger car sales in the country dropped 5.94% to hit 72,309 units as against 76,874 units during the same month of 2011.
Sales of the company's mini-segment cars, comprising the M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, also witnessed a decline of 29.03% to 29,895 units in May as against 42,125 units in May, 2011.
But, in the compact section (including the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models), the company saw an increase of 14.66% in sales to 24,290 units.
Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s DZiRE model zoomed 63.77% to 17,707 units during the last month as against 10,812 units in the same month last year.
MSI's mid-sized sedan SX4 sales fell 85.01% to 405 units last month.
Luxury sedan Kizashi saw a decline of 76% in sales at 12 units as compared to 50 units in the year-ago month.
