Third boy for Australian actor Cate Blanchett

Sydney - Oscar-winning Australian actor Cate BlanchetteOscar-winning Australian actor Cate Blanchett and her playwright husband Andrew Upton have named their new son Ignatius Martin Upton, a spokesman for the couple said Monday.

"They have a healthy baby boy - Ignatius Martin Upton. All are well and happy," the Sydney Theatre Company (STC) spokesman said.

STC is Australia's de facto national theatre and Blanchett and Upton are its artistic co-directors.

Ignatius, who was born on Sunday, is a brother to Dashiell, 6, and Roman, 3.

There was consternation last month when Prime Minister Kevin Rudd named the 38-year-old star of Elizabeth to a starring role in next weekend's 2020 Summit talkfest at Parliament House.

She was one of 10 eminent Australians picked to chair a meeting of the nation's 1,000 "brightest and best" citizens on a weekend that clashed with the expected birth of her child.

Blanchett is now expecting to play a backroom role in the two-day gathering.

"I want to extend my best wishes to Ms Blanchett and her family and thank her for her contribution to the Australia 2020 Summit thus far," Rudd said in a statement. (dpa)
