Yahoo! Rides high on its social strategy With the fad of social networking sites increasing among the users, Yahoo! pulse has bagged the number four slot. The site which witnesses 3.5 million unique users in just one month of its launch in June is following the league of facebook and Orkut in India.

As per a recent data by Comscore, yahoo owns two of the top ten social networking sites- Yahoo! Pulse and Yahoo! Buzz with 1.8 million visitors.

However industry analysts feel that the sudden spurt in the popularity of social networking sites is more of a short term phenomena. This also stems out from the recent replacement of Orkut by facebook at the No. 1 spot.

Moreover with India's social networking audience growing at a rate of 43 per cent in the last one year, company's social strategy comes at a right time.

As around 33 million; Indian Internet users in the age group of 15-25 logged on to social networking sites in the last month. This makes India as the seventh largest market worldwide for social networking after other countries including US, China, Germany, Russian Federation, Brazil and the UK.

Furthermore, the company plans to leverage its properties like Yahoo! India Cricket, News, Movies and other services through its social network.
