Rupee at lowest in more than a week
The Indian rupee has dropped to its lowest level today. This has been the lowest level since last week. This has occurred as there has been a gain in the dollar and some of the major currencies.
Moreover, the weakness in domestic shares has also affected the rupee level. According to the report, the partially convertible rupee has touched the figure of46.31/32 per dollar. A day before it was at 46.36. This figure has been the lowest figure since 30th of July.
In today’s trading the level of dollar has gone up against some of the major currencies. This has happened as traders trimmed short positions. They were just waiting for the results of the meeting of the U. S. Federal Reserve.
The Federal Reserve had a policy meeting today over the speculation of further easing to shore up the economy of the country. As the results came, the dollar index has gone up by 0.3% against the six other major currencies. It has been noticed that most other Asian currencies were traded at a level lower against the US currency.
