M&M faces a 10% production loss in Q1

mahindra-scorpioThe home-grown UV maker and the part of the $7 billion conglomerate, M&M Group, the automotive arm has recently said that the company has suffered a 10% production loss in Q1 due to the supply constraints of components.

Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automotive and Farm Equipment) Pawan Goenka said that the automotive arm of the group has faced a 10% production loss on the account of the supply issues that it has facing in the June quarter.

Moreover, Goenka pointed out the fact that the tractor division also suffered by 7-8 per cent due to component supply issues. It is to be mentioned here that the company is facing shortage of tyres, fuel injection and castings for the last six months.

However, M&M President (Finance, Legal and Financial Services) Uday Phadke said that the company is working very closely with the component manufacturers and the situation is likely to improve in the coming months. Similarly, VECV, the JV arm between the Volvo and Eicher Group also said that the company is facing a 20% production loss due to the supply constraints in the Indian market.
