IBM, Oracle To Set Up Units At Technopark
Global IT majors IBM and Oracle are making plans to establish divisions at the technology park in Kerala.
According to a representative of the state IT department, both the companies had started exploratory discussions to establish shop at the technopark.
The official, who did not wish to be identified, stated, "We feel that this endeavour by these IT companies is part of their strategy to move into tier-II (smaller) cities in the country and they are seriously considering Technopark. We feel positive about their efforts and if this happens then it would be a major boost to the industry in the state."
Technopark started functioning during the late nineties and is now home to 185 IT firms comprising Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) that hire over 30,000 people.
The official stated that IBM and Oracle are anticipating have divisions that would hire over 4,000 employees.
"This would give a huge boost to our efforts to make Kerala as the fastest growing IT destination in the country," the official added. (With Inputs from Agencies)
