Pet beds’ power adapters recalled
It has been reported that the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Radio Systems Corp. power adapters due to a fire hazard.
The power adapters were sold with PetSafe electrically heated beds for pets.
It has further been reported that about 20,000 adapters were imported from China and sold with the heated beds called PetSafe Heated Wellness Sleepers. The adapters are marked with "PLUG IN CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER," "MODEL NO: K12-800." They have a spring coil covering the electric wire. Power adapters without spring coils are not involved in the recall.
The commission also said that the firm has received three reports of connectors melting.
They were sold September 2006 through April for $70 to $110.
Officials of commission further notified that consumers were advised to stop using the power adapters and contact Radio Systems Corp. of Knoxville, Tenn., for a free replacement adapter. (With Inputs from Agencies)
