Hyundai plans to talk directly to employees
After facing labor unrest at its Chennai plant on a continuous basis, the Korean automaker, Hyundai Motors India has decided to talk to its sacked employees directly rather than going the route of the trade unions.
It may be noted here that Hyundai motors India has been facing labor problems on a on & off basis in its Chennai plant and according to a company statement issued recently, the company will be contacting the workers directly for settlement who were dismissed on disciplinary grounds.
In fact, the company further said that it has reached a settlement with two employees already and will be working the same process for the 2o other employees.
Sources close to the development confirm the fact that the dismissed workers will get their statutory dues and ex-gratia payment. The company has gone the direct way as it believes that Hyundai Motor India Employees Union (HMIEU) is stopping workers from signing the direct settlement with the company.
Notably, Hyundai Motor India's workers went on a six day strike last year protesting against the wage agreement the management negotiated with a workers committee.
