NDTV pact with Scripps ends
NDTV Group announced on Tuesday that it has taken final decision regarding its pact with Scripps Networks Interactive Inc., and that is to end the deal. While NDTV is an Indian group, Scripps Network is a US-based media house.
The total worth of the deal was $55 million and the whole talk on it started in November, 2009. The alliance was to be strategic in nature and meant that the Indian company was going to sell its stake in its lifestyle-related unit to the US firm.
The selling was supposed to be majority in nature and was decided that it would end within the first half of this year.
But since then, not much of a development took place on the front. And finally, using its rights to terminate the definitive agreement, NDTV took the decision to end it.
No reasons, however, were sited for this step.
NDTV is currently the largest private producer of news and entertainment content for television in India. It is into general entertainment, lifestyle and news channels as of now. The company has 23 offices cum studios across India.
Post the declaration, the shares of NDTV rose on the BSE.
