A complicated surgery involving the separation of conjoined twins helped in rescuing two twins in Bihar.

Sita and Gita, the conjoined twins from Bihar recently underwent a 48 hour surgery to become two different entities. It is also believed that the sisters were joined at the hip region and had a common reproductive and intestinal tracts and a fused spine.

The operation undertook three phases first happened at the OT at 7 o'clock in the morning that involved the physical separation of the twins. Second phase at 11 am concentrated upon creating separate genital, urinary and intestinal tracts for the two children and third phase which started at 4 pm plastic surgery was performed.

Doctor Bagai stated that the twins were safe and normal activity was also reported, and today they will start a milk diet for them.

The twins will be under observation for a week and as the doctors say the most important thing for the twins is that they grow up as normal individuals.
