Twitter users not very enthusiastic about geolocation
After a lot being talked and speculated about, the micro blogging site Twitter has finally launched the much awaited feature - geolocation.
But so far the user response to the feature is lukewarm. With geolocation, the users can make their current location public to their contacts. If turned on, geolocation will automatically display the location from where the particular users are tweeting from.
Biz Stone, the co founder of Twitter stated that in the past some time there has been a sudden increase in user interest in location sharing applications, games and other services. And that's the reason why Twitter has launched geolocation feature for its users.
However, the initial response from the Twitter users is nowhere close to what we call overwhelming. In fact, many users are apprehensive about turning on the location feature in their Twitter accounts and let thousands of people know about their whereabouts. But even after that there are chances that many people would like to turn on this feature. As many of the Twitter users were already tweeting their location through Foursquare.
And it is not just Twitter. The news reports and industry sources confirm that the social networking site Facebook too is working on launching the location feature soon.
