I don’t have any differences with Zardari: Fahim

Islamabad, Mar 13 : Makhdoom Amin FahimPakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim has rejected reports of him having differences with party co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari over who will be the Prime Minister.

In an interview to a private TV channel, Fahim said he and Zardari are good friends and happen to be in the same political party, and therefore there was no question of a ‘deadlock’ between them.

Fahim said the final decision on the PPP’s candidate for Prime Minister would be made after consultation between leaders. According to him, the next four days were crucial for deciding who would be the next premier.

According to the Daily Times, Zardari took Fahim into confidence over the charges being made the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Khawaja Asif against him and the “viewpoints” of various party members.

He said that if Zardari announced his name for the premiership, he would unconditionally withdraw his nomination. He also assured Zardari that he would continue to serve the party to the best of his ability.

Fahim said that he expected PPP to take a stand against PML-N’s remarks, which questioned his political integrity. He said if somebody had said something like this about Nawaz Sharif or Shahbaz Sharif, the PML-N would have taken strong action against that person.

He also reiterated that he had met President Pervez Musharraf with the consent of slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

Fahim said he was meeting Zardari everyday and would continue to do so. He said PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi had apologised for Khawaja Asif’s remarks.

Fahim said he would be meeting Zardari on Thursday. (ANI)
