Sensex Up 203 Pts On Strong Global Signals
Indian equities continued to gain ground during early trade for the second day on Wednesday.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex started the day on a flat note after gaining 2.23 points at 16,228.91, whereas the broad based NSE Nifty belled the day at 4,801.80, down 53.95 points.
At 9:36 a. m., the Sensex was trading up 203.64 points to trade at 16,430.32. In the meantime, the Nifty was trading higher by 60.55 points at 4,916.3.
BSE Midcap Index surged 1.19% and BSE Smallcap Index moved 1.12% higher.
On Tuesday, BSE Sensex marked its closure at 16,226.68, up 188.33 points, aided by continued buying action witnessed across blue chip companies Infosys, ICICI Bank and RIL.
The over breadth of the stock market was optimistic as 1,560 stocks advanced while 1,242 moved down.
Among major gainers on the Sensex included ACC; Hindalco; Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever.
