Patil named as new NCA coach
The former India batsman Sandeep Patil will replace Dav Whatmore as Director of Cricket Operations at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as reported by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a release on Wednesday.
Dav had inked contract with the Indian Premier League's franchisee Kolkata Knight Riders as head coach for the next season of the IPL and Patil will join NCA on his post on November 1.
Dav had replaced Australian coach John Buchannan as KKR coach. The 53 years old Patil had enough experience in the coaching as he coached India A and Indian team apart from coaching Kenya. Kenya had made into the semifinals of the 2003 World Cup under his guidance. Patil coached India A for 18 months and then he helped Oman to perform brilliantly in the ACC Trophy to qualify for the ICC Trophy.
Patil had also served the rebel Indian Cricket League's team Mumbai Champs in the first season but he ended his contract with ICL before start of the second season.
