France call up Gomis to replace Ribery

Olympique Paris - France called up striker Bafetimbi Gomis on Tuesday to replace the injured Franck Ribery for their crucial World Cup qualifiers.

Olympique Lyon's Gomis, 24, was nominated by coach Raymond Domenech after Ribery pulled out with tendinitis in his left knee.

Ribery came off at half-time with the knee problem in Bayern Munich's goalless draw against Cologne on Saturday.

In their World Cup qualifiers France play Faroe Islands on Saturday in Guingamp and Austria on Wednesday at St Denis. France are lying second in Group 7, four ahead of Austria.
