Inflation Rate Inches Up From 0.26% To 0.57%
India’s wholesale price index rose to 0.57% during the week ended April 18 as compared to 0.26% in the previous week.
During the corresponding week of the previous year, the annual inflation rate stood at 8.23%.
During the third week of April, the inflationary figures as measured by the wholesale price index (WPI) increased mainly because of an increase in food prices while fuel and manufactured products turned a little costlier.
The index for primary articles went up by 1.7 per cent to 253.2, while the manufactured products index surged 0.3 per cent to 201.6 on a week-on-week basis.
The wholesale price index for the fuel group increased 0.1 per cent to 323.0 on a week-on-week basis.
For the week ended February 21, inflation was revised to 2.99 per cent from a provisional estimate of 3.03 per cent.
The WPI for the same period has been revised to 227.5 from the preliminary forecast of 227.6.
