Polish climber dies in Himalayas
Warsaw - Poland's best-known Himalaya climber fell to his death on Wednesday on Mt Dhaulagiri in Nepal, local media reported.
Piotr Morawski was climbing the 8,167-metre peak with Slovakian climber Peter Hamor, Polish Radio reported.
The 200-metre fall occurred while the climbers were aiming for the mountain's summit, and was the result of acclimatization problems, the reports said.
"He was a new-generation mountain climber who was successful on an international scale," Polish Radio quoted Marek Wierzbowski of the Polish Mountaineering Association as saying.
"He was one of very few people to take on the hardest peaks in the Himalayas." (dpa)
