Four armed suspects arrested during Rawalpindi mehndi procession

RawalpindiIslamabad, Jan. 18: Rawalpindi Police has arrested at least four suspects and recovered weapons from two of them during a Moharramul Haram procession in the garrison city on late Thursday night.

The mehndi procession came out from Darbar Shah Chand Chiragh and was headed for the ancient Imambargh where Fajr Prayers were to be held on Friday, reports The News.

A little while after the procession started moving, four men, appearing from the police security cordon, joined the mourners. However, security personnel intercepted them, and on searching them, found four repeaters and rounds of ammunition on their bodies. All four have been handed over to the area police for interrogation.

Security in the city has been beefed up following the incident. (ANI)
