German retail sales down 5 per cent in February
Wiesbaden, Germany - German retail sales slumped 5.3 per cent in February year-on-year in both real and euro terms, Germany's Federal Statistics Office in Wiesbaden said Wednesday.
However the seasonally adjusted volume of sales fell only 0.2 per cent from January to February, and rose 0.2 per cent in nominal terms in that period. The sharpest falls were in food and beverages retailing, down 6.4 per cent in year-on-year terms.
The provisional figures were based on data from three-quarters of the country. (dpa)
