Zardari assures Lankan Foreign Minister about attack probeIslamabad, Mar. 4 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has assured Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama that the investigation into the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on Tuesday, is making progress.

"Progress has been made in the investigation and the perpetrators will be exposed and brought to justice," The News quoted Zardari, as saying.

Zardari told Bogollagama that the terrorists would be caught and dealt "with iron hands".

"The incident was a serious setback that had also undermined the sport of cricket in Pakistan," an official statement from President's office said.

Zardari also highlighted the need to "jointly devise a mechanism for the promotion of peace, development and progress" in the South Asian region.

Zardari welcomed a statement from the Sri Lankan government that the incident would not strain relations between both the nations, and suggested that suggested that the two countries hold a workshop to learn from each other''s experiences in fighting terrorism.

After immediate cancellation of the Sri Lankan Test tour there are now fears that Pakistan will not be able to host international teams for as long as a generation. (ANI)
