India''s nuke reactors more advanced than Pak: Kakodkar
Kolkata, Feb 6 : Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar has asserted that India need not worry about Pakistan constructing nuclear reactors with foreign help as her nuclear reactors are far more advanced than those of Pakistan.
He revealed this during speaking an interactive session on ''Perspective on Evolving Nuclear Power Programme'' here on Thursday.
In the course of his talk, he touched upon a wide range of topics, including one whether Pakistan''s building reactors should be a cause of worry for India.
"They are certainly constructing nuclear reactors with foreign help. The point is, we have constructed so many reactors on our own and they are world class. So where is the comparison with Pakistani reactors?" said Anil Kakodkar.
Further, he noted that by the middle of 2050-2060, the requirement of electricity in the country would be nine to ten times more than the current requirement.
He also said that economic growth and improved quality of life were closely linked with the availability of energy and electricity.
He added that unstable growth of the population and economic growth would increase the demand for electricity in future. (ANI)
