Becks set to equal Bobby Moore's England appearance record
London, Feb. 6: England football team coach Fabio Capello has decided to help winger David Beckham make England history.
Becks will equal Bobby Moore's record of 108 caps for an outfield player in Wednesday's friendly against Spain, reports The Sun.
Neither Capello nor No 2 Franco Baldini will bother to watch Becks play for Milan against Reggina at the San Siro tomorrow and will instead rely on their scouts' reports.
But Beckham, 33, has already done enough, following an amazing start to life in Italy, to be named in the squad on Saturday evening.
However, Wayne Rooney and Carlton Cole look set to miss out on Beckham's party - unless injuries to other players on Saturday make their selection essential.
Capello does not want to risk Rooney - who has been out for three weeks due to hamstring trouble - and also wants to avoid a falling-out with Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.
West Ham striker Cole, 25, has been tipped for a call-up but he has not done enough to push himself ahead of regulars like Emile Heskey, Peter Crouch and Gabriel Agbonlahor. (ANI)
