No mischief will be allowed with Pakistan: Iftikhar Chaudhry

Iftikhar Mohammad ChaudhryKarachi, May 22 : Deposed Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has praised the media and the civil society for their support to the lawyers’ movement to have the sacked judges restored.

In his telephonic address to a joint meeting of the Sindh High Court Bar, Karachi Bar and Malir Bar associations, The News quoted Chaudhry as saying that the judiciary had always been handled roughly in Pakistan, and therefore, no praise was enough for the judges who had refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order issued under the directions of then President General Pervez Musharraf.

He said no mischief would be allowed with the country. He said the situation has been changed in the country after November 3, 2007 and the system has been transformed after the February 18, 2008 elections.

He said the lawyers would not avoid offering any sacrifice for the rule of the law and the supremacy of the Constitution in the country. (ANI)
