Officials at NASA said claims that planet-wrecking asteroid is plunging through space and is approaching Earth to finally collide with it between September 15 and 28 are completely false.

According to a statement by Paul Chodas, manager of NASA's Near-Earth Object office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, "There is no scientific basis that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates. If there were any object large enough to do that type of destruction in September, we would have seen something of it by now".

Recently, the claims posted on a number of blogs went viral. According to the claims, an asteroid will collide in close proximity to Puerto Rico and destroys the coasts of the Mexico, United States and Central and South America.

This week, the agency thought of releasing a statement in order to tell people that their world is not on the verge of end.

According to the officials, no comets, asteroids or other celestial objects have been spotted that would have an impact on Earth any time in the near future. Also, all potentially dangerous asteroids that are known have a less than 0.01% change of affecting Earth in the 22nd century.

As per NASA, it use telescopes to monitor the existence, physical characteristics, and estimated path of asteroids and comets that pass within 30 million miles of our planet.
