Nissan to sell one lakh units by 2013

Nissan-Motors-LogoThough, the Japanese automaker hasn't really been able to make a mark for itself in the Indian automotive industry so far, but the company has ambitious goals going forward.

In fact, the company is eying to touch the one lakh unit sales figure by the year 2013 in the Indian market. For reaching such an ambitious milestone, the company will be increasing its dealership network to 82 dealers in 2013 from the current level of eight dealers.

Nissan is also planning to launch a slew of nine models into the Indian market to reach its one-lakh tag. The company is making India as its export hub and has bullish plans to export products worth $20 million in 2010, and $30 million in 2011 and $40 million in the subsequent years. The company currently has a workforce of around 1,200 people and it wants to add another 1,800 under its umbrella before 2012.

The Japanese automaker is undoubtedly getting more serious about the Indian automotive market and keeping in mind the bullish plans the company has, the competition is only going get all the more intense.
