New image reveals active regions of Sun
According to reports, a new image of the Sun is showing its flares in bright and active regions. The image reveals colors that reveal X-ray activity on the Sun. It has been reported by Discovery News that the image is a combination of images from a number of telescopes, together with ultraviolet observations from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), X-ray observations from NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), and lower-energy X-ray images from Japan's Hinode observatory.
According to Iain Hannah of the University of Glasgo, some active regions on the Sun could be observed in this view. Hannah added, "Our sun is quietening down in its activity cycle, but still has a couple of years before it reaches a minimum. We still need the sun to quieten down more over the next few years to have the ability to detect these events".
The new image of the Sun shows processes of the high-energy X-ray creation that take place in the solar corona. The outermost layer of the Sun that could be thought as the Sun's "atmosphere" is known as corona. As per reports, the heat distribution of the corona is a big puzzle for scientists, for the reason that it is much hotter than what is predicted by classical thermodynamics.
This latest study of the Sun's emissions and coronal activity could assist in solving the mystery of the corona's surprising activities. Nanoflares are also a subject of curiosity among scientists; these are comparatively small flares that produce enormous amounts of heat.
