New Alto comes from stable of Maruti
India's biggest car maker, Maruti Suzuki launched a brand new version of its small car, Alto.
It is the highest selling car of the company and the new version will be priced in between the same range as the old one. The current price of Alto is between Rs. 3.03 and Rs. 3.16 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Name of the new version will be Alto K-10 and is going tot have the Suzuki K-series 998cc engine. Besides this, the new car is said to be having improved suspension, gear transmission and brake system.
Talking to media at the sidelines of the launch, Shinzo Nakanishi, chief executive, Maruti Suzuki India said, “There are a growing number of first time buyers who seek more power, performance and attitude in their car, without having to stretch all the way to buy a higher segment car.”
As per the company, the fuel efficiency of the car is going to be 20.2 km per litre. This is going to be the highest in the A2 segment. They also said that Alto K-10 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 13.3 seconds and has new cable type transmission for easy gear shifting.
