Lahore/Islamabad, Jan. 17 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked India to respond positively to the crackdown being carried out by Pakistan on the terrorist outfits.

According to The Daily Times, Nawaz Sharif met with the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Satyabrata Pal, and said that India should respond positively to steps being taken by Pakistan with regards to the Mumbai terror attacks.

Both Sharif and Pal discussed the recent rise in tension between India and Pakistan after the Mumbai terror attacks. They also discussed about the `dossier' of evidence given by India to Pakistan.

Later, in a press conference, while commenting on disqualification of his name from contesting an election in the country, Sharif said that the decision regarding his disqualification rested with the people of Pakistan.

He also said that only the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has the right to decide about parliament's supremacy.

Sharif said that any delay on part of the government in abolishing the 17th Amendment of the constitution will make the political situation in Pakistan more volatile.

"The ball is in the government's court now. President Zardari has announced this in his speech while the Prime Minister has repeatedly promised to undo the 17th Amendment. Any delay will cause chaos in the country," he said. (ANI)
