Narayana Murthy’s act of selecting his son as assistant is sheer nepotism: many believe
While NR Narayana Murthy's return to Infosys as executive chairman triggered optimism and provided a much-needed boost to the software firm's shares, many aspiring employees at the company are concerned NR that Mr. Narayana's son Rohan Murty may now get undue support to reach a leadership position in the company.
Mr. Narayana has chosen his own son as his executive assistant, but aspiring employees argue that there are hundreds of brilliant candidates at the company from among whom the executive chairman could have select his executive assistant.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior executive at Infosys said, "Rohan will now be groomed to take up a larger role in Infy and all this will happen in the name of rescuing the company."
The executive also grumbled that that he didn't have a lineage with any business leader.
Another senior-level executive, who has been serving with Infosys for more than a decade, said he would not be surprised if Rohan was given a seat in the company's board room in the next five years.
Infosys' policy doesn't allow its promoters' children to take up executive roles in the company. But, aspiring employees fear that the policy can be relaxed at sometime in future to benefit Rohan, as the company did in its retirement policy by relaxing some of its norms to allow the re-induction of Mr. Narayana Murthy.
