Nadal passes on Masters Cup to prepare Davis Cup final Manacor, Spain - World number one tennis player Rafael Nadal opted to pass on the upcoming Masters Cup, set to start Sunday in Shanghai, in order to recover from a knee injury in time for the Davis Cup final November 21-23.

"This is one of the hardest decisions in my life," the Spaniard Nadal said Monday in his website. "I want to recover and be ready for the important Davis Cup final that my country is playing in Mar del Plata."

Spain is set to play the final away in Argentina, on an indoor court. (dpa)
